Aquatics Coordinator (Full-time Salary)
We're hiring a full-time Aquatics Coordinator! The coordinator assists the Aquatic Director by providing excellent service to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

YMCA Aquatics


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
a. Assists in recruiting, training, developing, scheduling, and coordinating personnel and volunteers. Assists in reviewing and evaluating staff performance.
b. Schedules lifeguards and ensures all shifts are covered by staff. Fills in as needed. 
c. Provides leadership to lifeguards, swim instructors and water exercise instructors.
d. Ensures the safety of members and program participants.
e. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatics area.
f. Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
g. Builds effective relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
h. Assists in establishing new program activities and expanding programs within the community in accordance with the strategic plans.
i. 15-20 Hours of direct service (swim lessons, lifeguarding)

QUALIFICATIONS:
a. Associates degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
b. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
c. At least two years of experience in the aquatics field is preferred.
d. Required certifications: Current YMCA Lifeguarding or Red Cross Lifeguarding or equivalent. Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications and or trainings where necessary.
e. ARC Lifeguard Instructor Certification or equivalent is preferred.

Position Summary:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides direction for the children and parents that focuses on building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.
Early Morning Greeter
The Kokomo Family YMCA is looking for a warm, cause-driven early riser to join our team in Membership Services as our Early Morning Greeter.
The Member Greeter will be responsible for helping to set the tone of the member experience by engaging entrants in a friendly and polite manner as they enter and exit the building, scan cards for members as they enter the building and educate members and community on the offerings of the Y. We need a relationship-builder who loves the early morning and has a passion for creating community. Hours are 4-8 a.m. Monday and Tuesday with opportunity for weekend and evening hours as available. Membership Services Representative
The Y is looking for warm, engaging, cause-driven leaders to join our team in membership services. We are looking for hospitality staffers to greet, welcome and engage current and prospective Y members; membership services representatives to sign potential members up and help connect them with the life-changing services and programs at the Y; and up to two part-time membership services coordinators to help oversee the membership team from 4 to 10 p.m. throughout the week and all day Saturday and Sunday.

Ideal candidates for both positions have a passion for connecting diverse populations and making everyone feel welcome and at home within the walls of the Y. Swim Instructor
Part Time Hourly
Pay Grade: $7.25-$8.50

Position Summary

Responsible for planning and conducting swim lessons according to YMCA and Red Cross guidelines and to help people learn to be safe when they are in, on or around water. To always ensure the safety of class participants while teaching and to promote the four core values of the YMCA.

Essential Functions

  • Represent the YMCA’s four core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
  • Be familiar with course materials and know how to use them effectively.
  • Create a non-threatening environment encouraging participants to meet course objectives.
  • Must be cheerful, energetic, and emotionally present and must be a good listener and communicator.
  • Cover all material required in a course
  • Ensure that participants meet course completion requirements and receive completion certificate.
  • Submit completed course reports to Aquatic Coordinator.
  • Attend regular trainings as assigned by Aquatic Coordinator
  • Must maintain an excellent attendance record.

Recommended Qualifications

  • American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Training and First Aid
  • American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent
  • WSI or YSI Certification
  • Knowledge of child development
  • Knowledge of infant and preschool aquatic theory and practice.
  • Knowledge of progressive aquatic theory and practice.
  • Knowledge of lesson planning, administrative and program operations.
  • Knowledge of learning theory, course design and customizing to adults, persons with disabilities and helping participants meet their individual goals and objectives.

Housekeeping
Part Time: 20-28 hours per week

Position Summary

To provide a positive, high energy and safe environment within the YMCA facility by being responsible for laundry, mopping and vacuuming, bathroom maintenance and janitorial duties under the guidance of the Facilities Director. Housekeeping staff with keeping all areas of the branch clean, safe and well maintained.

Essential Functions

  • Follow emergency procedures and safety precautions. Follow procedures for reporting all accidents, incidents, and hazards.
  • Accept additional assignments as deemed appropriate, within the scope of the job description.
  • Provide Excellent customer Service
  • Maintenance of fitness floor and studios
  • Bathroom maintenance and janitorial duties

Qualifications

  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Must have successful experience in routine maintenance, janitorial machinery, and application and safe handling of chemicals.
  • HS Diploma
  • Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.

Before/After School Sites
We are hiring for two before/after school sites at the YMCA Early Learning Center, Northwestern & Taylor Elementary. These positions will be teachers’ assistants in our programs; the available hours will be 6 a.m. – 9 a.m. & 3 p.m. – 6 p.m., applicants will also be able to request either before or after if they choose. Applicants must have their high school diploma/GED and be able to complete all required training. Child Care experience or pursuing a degree in a child related field is preferred. Swim Instructors & Lifeguards
The YMCA is looking for experienced swim instructors and lifeguards to join the family at the Y. Help the youth of today learn to be healthy while they increase their self-esteem and learn life skills such as goal setting and determination.

Childhood development and swimming progression knowledge is needed for instructors, and lifeguards must have a current lifeguard certification.

Experienced Personal Trainers
The YMCA is far more than a traditional “gym & swim” facility. We are looking for certified personal trainers who understand the heart of the Y is to help inspire people to live a healthier life, in every area. We believe in nurturing and coaching the potential in every health seeker, so connecting with members must be a strong suit.

Personal training hours: Flexible, although early morning, evening and weekend availability is preferred.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Be a certified personal trainer through National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), American Council on Exercise (ACE), or American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) or other reputable certification organization.
  • Minimum of 1 year Personal Training experience

Group Exercise

Position Summary

Make every effort to assist them in attaining their health and wellness goals. Assist with the operation of the wellness center, group fitness classes. Implement Y signature Healthy Living programs. Maintain and enforce wellness center policies and procedures. Maintenance of fitness floor and studios.

Qualifications

  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Basic Group Fitness Certification or specialty class certification
  • HS Diploma
  • Fitness enthusiast
