Early Morning Membership Greeter
The Kokomo Family YMCA is looking for a warm, cause-driven early riser to join our team in Membership Services as our Early Morning Greeter.
The Member Greeter will be responsible for helping to set the tone of the member experience by engaging entrants in a friendly and polite manner as they enter and exit the building, scan cards for members as they enter the building and educate members and community on the offerings of the Y. Play & Learn Program Aide


Under the direction and supervision of the Youth and Family Director, the Play & Learn Program Aide will be responsible for the children in designated programs ensuring a healthy, safe, and loving environment. The specialist will demonstrate caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility while providing for children’s social, physical, spiritual, and mental well-being and will interact positively with parents to develop a trusting relationship. They will engage parents, children and families and while at work this will be the top priority.


1. Provide a quality environment in programs, taking into consideration the needs of each child and the goals and objectives of the YMCA in accordance to developmentally appropriate practices (DAP).
2. Help with any incidents; be responsible for the safety of the children at all times, and carry out emergency procedures when necessary; put safety first in all activities by using developmentally appropriate activities at all times.
3. Professionally handle any conflict or emergency situation that may arise with staff or members; role model positive interaction with children, parents, and staff using core values as guidelines.
4. Adhere to and maintain the cleaning schedule set forth by the Child Care Director; maintain inventory of supplies and monitor program areas usage via the sign in/out sheets.
5. Attend, and contribute to all staff meetings and in-service training's; acquire minimum training hours according to the YMCA training ladder.
6. Complete tasks as assigned.


1. Must be at least 18 years old; one year of experience working directly with children, preferred.
2. Must have an understanding, or be willing to become familiar with the stages of developmentally appropriate practices (DAP), meeting the needs of the children using the YMCA programs.
3. Must be capable of establishing and maintaining positive relationships with staff, members, program participants, and with the general public.
4. Must be able to work as a team member and possess the core values that meet the YMCA mission.
5. Maintain current certifications in CPR, AED, First Aid, Safety & Risk Management, Child Abuse Prevention, New Employee Orientation, or the ability to obtain post hire.

B.A.S.E. Instructors
We are hiring site instructors for our before/after school enrichment (B.A.S.E.) program at Northwestern & Taylor Elementary locations. These positions will be site coordinators in our programs; the available hours will be 6 a.m. – 9 a.m. & 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. Applicants must have their high school diploma/GED and be able to complete all required training. Child Care experience or pursuing a degree in a child related field is preferred. Elementary Education or Early Childhood degrees are a great bonus. Camp Counselor

Position Summary

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides direct supervision of a group of children in a seasonal day camp. Creates positive, nurturing relationships with children, while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers. Promotes and supports the potential of all youth in programs and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall camp experience.


1. Supervises a group of children.
2. Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and
consistent with YMCA values.
3. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
4. Attends staff meetings and training's.
5. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations,
child abuse prevention and emergencies.

Membership Services Representative
The Y is looking for warm, engaging, cause-driven leaders to join our team in membership services. We are looking for hospitality staffers to greet, welcome and engage current and prospective Y members; membership services representatives to sign potential members up and help connect them with the life-changing services and programs at the Y; and up to two part-time membership services coordinators to help oversee the membership team from 4 to 10 p.m. throughout the week and all day Saturday and Sunday.

Position Summary

Responsible for planning and conducting swim lessons according to YMCA and Red Cross guidelines and to help people learn to be safe when they are in, on or around water. To always ensure the safety of class participants while teaching and to promote the four core values of the YMCA.
