School Age Child Care For Essential Workers

Our communities are strongest together. The Kokomo Family YMCA, in partnership with Kokomo School Corporation, is proud to provide school age childcare for essential workers who are helping to keep our communities running smoothly. When we closed, we closed with a purpose and are prepared to meet this need and help our community, as so many YMCAs across the country are doing. Because safety is our number one concern, we have deep-cleaned the facility and have adjusted our drop-off/pick-up procedures, as well as our daily school age child care operations. What precautions are being taken? (Drop-off, pick-up, etc.)
Our goal is to keep all children, their families and our staff safe. We have been working hard to completely sanitize, paint and air out our facility. We are asking parents to do their part in helping us keep ALL families healthy during this season:

We ask that you bring your children to our screening point at the front door. At this point, we will do the following:
• Take your child’s temperature
• Ask basic screening questions used by the hospitals regarding travel, recent travel, and if your child has been exposed to anyone diagnosed with COVID-19.
• We will have your child was his/her hands and bring them in for a fun-filled day of activities.
• Staff will also be screened as well.
• We ask that families DO NOT ENTER the center so that we may keep our risk low.

To ensure both your child and our staff are kept safe while attending our child care program, we will keep groups to 8 children and 2 staff as long as social distancing recommendations are in place. We will make sure groups are independent of each other to minimize any chance of contamination. Staff and children will wash hands often and staff will sanitize equipment after it is used. Staff may wear face masks. We will immediately notify you if your child shows signs of illness or starts running a fever. We are also following the FSSA COVID-19 guidelines shared by the state of Indiana.
