• Facilitate and manage the Tobacco Free Howard County Coalition, ensuring broad community participation and execution of a comprehensive work plan aligned with grant deliverables.
• Coordinate and execute tobacco control strategies including public education campaigns, smoke-free policy advocacy, cessation support, and youth engagement programs.
• Lead grant management processes: budgeting, reporting, compliance with TPC deliverables, and timely submission of required documentation.
• Collaborate with schools to support VOICE youth advocacy chapters in each district, facilitating monthly meetings and ensuring youth participation in statewide events.
• Train and support facilitators for smoking cessation programs; provide direct delivery of cessation programs when needed.
• Represent Howard County at regional and statewide meetings, including Advocacy Days and state tobacco prevention summits.
• Develop public-facing educational materials and campaigns in collaboration with local media and stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate records of program outcomes, youth involvement, event participation, and financial reporting related to the grant.
• Prepare and distribute minutes, reports, and communication for monthly coalition and youth meetings in compliance with open-door policies.
• Ensure all activities are documented according to YMCA policies and grantor requirements.

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Social Work, Education, or a related field (required).
• Certified Prevention Professional (CPP) or Indiana Prevention Professional Association (IPPA) certification preferred or must be obtained within 6–9 months of hire.

Experience:

• 1–3 years of experience in public health, community education, or tobacco prevention programming.
• Experience in coalition building, youth engagement, or grant-funded program management highly desirable.

Skills and Abilities

• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to lead meetings and work collaboratively with diverse community groups.
• Public speaking and advocacy experience.
• Competency with Microsoft Office and database systems.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Must be self-motivated and tobacco-free.

Additional Requirements

• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Valid Indiana Driver’s License and reliable transportation; some regional travel required.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Completion of all required TPC and YMCA trainings.

Preferred Certifications & Knowledge

• VOICE Adult Ally certification or willingness to complete within 90 days.
• Knowledge of tobacco control best practices, advocacy strategy, and CDC’s four programmatic goals.
• Grant writing experience is a plus.

• Office and field/community work required.
• Occasional lifting of supplies up to 20 pounds.
• May require standing or sitting for extended periods and transporting materials to community events.
