Back to School YOU! 

Kids are back in school, and it is time to address the after-effects of ice cream cones, BBQ’s, and elephant ears! Getting back on track doesn’t need to be hard. Consider these easy tips, and you’ll quickly enjoy a fresh routine!

  1. Find a friend and start a back to school routine together! Remember the joys of long summer days, hanging with friends and talking the hours away? Continue the conversations — but do so at a YMCA! You’ll keep each other motivated and continue the fun of summer friendships!
  2. Coordinate with your child’s schedule — Use your child’s schedule to organize your own routine. Maybe they have little dribblers that will give you 20 minutes to run on a treadmill. Or, maybe they have a weekend swim lesson at the Y, and you could take a group exercise class at the same time. Or, maybe homework involves reading a certain number of minutes a day, which could be time for you to take a quick class on the YMCA360 app. Short bursts or long, your kid’s schedule can be your structure.
  3. Enjoy some new gear — Kids going back to school are excited by the new pencils, backpacks, notebooks and clothes. Just because you’re not a kid, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy new gear! Treat yourself to a new gym bag, workout clothes, jump rope, or pair of athletic shoes, and enjoy the excitement of wanting to use them!
  4. Find a group exercise class! Remember the first day of school, the excitement of seeing old friends and making new ones? A group exercise class can be the same — before you know it, not only will you be healthier, but you’ll be looking forward to spending time with friends and instructors you’ve come to know!
